Journal entry by Deanna Ezzell

A year ago Sunday marked a year that we found out Jason had a large mass in his abdomen. The past several days we have been reflecting on how that day brought so many questions and unknowns. That day brought a roller coaster ride of a year and we are happy to say that we are on the other side.

God never said that we wouldn’t have troubles in this world but he did say that he would be with us as we faced those troubles. We can say without a doubt that we have felt Him every step of the way. That doesn’t mean we weren’t angry, sad, or questioning at times but we always turned to Him to get us through each next step and we felt His peace and He gave us strength to make it through every battle along the way.

I have attached a slide show that shows pictures of Jason’s cancer journey—the highs and the lows. It is the good stuff and the really hard stuff. All showing us where he has been and how far he has come.  We are so very thankful that he is feeling so much better and continues to build stamina. In fact, I have trouble keeping up with him again. He just needs to continue to work on his core muscles and he will be back to normal or maybe better.

We look forward to going to the Smoky Mountains at the end of October to enjoy nature and time together. This is the trip we were supposed to take last fall and thanks to some very generous friends, we have free lodging. Then next up is Caleb and Emily’s wedding on November 5th as well as Caleb’s graduation December 15th.

Thank you to each and everyone of you for all of the prayers, kind words, acts of kindness, and so much more. We felt very loved and cared for during this journey.
