Journal

I wanted to write to provide my basic story to everyone so you can be praying along with us.

On Thursday September 3, 2020 I went to the ER because of some persistent pain I had been experiencing for months.  After several tests and a CT scan the doctor informed me I had cancer.

This of course led to a long line of tests, surgery, biopsy, meetings with specialists at Major Hospital here in Shelbyvile and at the IU cancer center in Indy.  God quickly assembled an amazing team of doctors who all committed to helping me deal with this new reality.

i began chemo treatments on Tuesday, September 29th.  I do my treatments on three week cycles.  I have chemo on Tuesday of week one, on Tuesday of week two, then on week three I have “time off” from treatments to recover.  The next week a new cycle starts again.

Today I had my first treatment for the second cycle.  So far I’ve responded well to chemo and my doctor is doing an excellent job of helping work with me on my pain and nausea.

Throughout this life upending process God has shown Himself faithful and full off grace over and over.  He shows up in the middle of the night when I’m up and in the constant details of our new day to day schedules.

I’m honored to be able to continue working and leading at Outreach during this time. My staff and Board of Directors are incredibly supportive to me.

Many people want to know what can they do.  We are good on food, and while we appreciate the offer we don’t really need meals.  What we need is your prayers. We can tell when people are praying often “in real time”.  Please pray for healing, wisdom, and grace.
