Jason ’s Story

Site created on May 12, 2020

Jason, Alyssa & family very much appreciate you taking the time to learn about their current struggle and any love and support anyone can offer. This site will help keep friends and family updated on his status during this scary time! On May 2nd, Jason’s health began to decline. He didn’t feel quite right and by morning he was immensely sick with symptoms similar to the flu. High fevers over 103F, headaches, body aches, vomit and gastric issues. This went on for a day or so hoping it would pass. Then things seemed to get worse with his breathing and severe shortness of breath, he had a nasal CoronaVirusTest (CVT) and was sent to the ED at Mayo immediately and admitted (5/5/20). Doctors ran a few tests and bloodwork and 2 more CVT’s. CVT’s came back negative and Jason was released 5/6/20 with Antibiotics and diagnosed double pneumonia.
After returning home for a day/night, there was no improvement and oxygen levels were down in the 61-67 range so Alyssa called 911 and had the ambulance out to the house. Back to the Mayo ER and he was admitted immediately. They have given 4 more CVT’s and all continue to come back negative even though all the doctors and experts say that what I have looks like classic COVID19. The tests given are only 82% accurate, which is why they keep running tests. Also the staff has been running many blood tests, xrays, CT scans, and other tests to try to determine the cause of the damage and junk in the lungs, or any kidney, or bladder issues as well.
On the 12th Jason was moved to the ICU to be placed on a high flow oxygen machine due to his very low O2 intake and has been there since. Yesterday 5/13, Mayo has included the steroid Prednisone in his treatment to see if that will help with the lung inflammation.
We are praying for Jason to fight through this and stay strong. The fact that he is young and generally healthy gives hope! We are unsure how long Jason will be in the hospital, as the medical bills are beginning to pile up. There are so many people and families struggling and ours is no different. We ask for your prayers, positive words & encouragement, or any other way you’d like to support Jason and his wife Alyssa and their kids while they struggle through determining the root causes. We want to get Jason well and out of the hospital, and back home with his worried wife and children. Thank you for anything and everything anyone does to help. A positive thought and kind words are priceless. Love to all!

A few of you reached out asking if we received your donation through this site. If you intended to donate to our Case family, do not “TRIBUTE”. Your donations can be sent to VENMO direct to @Jason-Case-14

This month has been overwhelming to say the least & confusing with how to receive gifted financial support. To clarify, if you’ve given “tributes”, this sends your money to the company website CaringBridge, to support it’s free access. If your intention was for your donation to go to our family, “there are several ways to reach CaringBridge for a full refund: donors can call at 651-789-2300, email at customercare@caringbridge.org, or reply to the donation confirmation email they received, to request a full refund.”
Know that we appreciate all your love, support, notes, cards, smiles, help, food, and generous donations. Love you all and from our hearts, thank you!
