Hello Friends and Family!

We have some amazing updates on Jasmine and we figured it was time to share a new post! It’s been a busy busy year for her and we thank you all for the constant support!

We will start with the cancer cell counts in the fluid of her brain and spine. We are currently at 2 cells, you heard it right TWO CELLS in the brain and spinal fluids! She has decreased from over 14,000 cells to 2 cells! We have plans to celebrate with her amazing doctor when we hit zero. The chemo Jasmine is taking is a newer medication and the company was so amazed by Jasmine’s progress and success that recently she was selected for a case study! She’s so Grey’s Anatomy!!! It was published on Nov. 19th in Boston at a medical conference. Once she hits zero, her doctors plan to take her chemo down from once a week to once every other week. Once it stays consistent it will go down to once every other two weeks and so on until we get to our goal of once every six months and once every year!!

For the cancer that spread to the bones, the original spots of cancer were treated by radiation and have not shown up on scans again in those spots!! They did find more on different areas of the bones and she completed five more rounds of chemo here in Dallas. On a recent scan all of those spots have decreased and the previous spots did not show back up!

For her breast and lymph node cancer, where it all started, her medicine has worked wonders and the lumps shrunk tremendously. The first goal was to get her cell counts down for her brain and spinal fluid cancer. Now that she has it down to 2 cells the doctors were able to move forward with a double mastectomy. Since she tested positive for the BRCA gene, a double mastectomy is the best option for the cancer to not return. She had the surgery on Tuesday Dec. 14th and it went amazing!! We have her back home already today, Wednesday Dec. 15th, recovering. She is doing really great in the recovery process.

Team! She has seriously kicked this cancer’s ass!!! Within 1 year she has had two surgeries, countless rounds of chemo/radiation and too many doctors visits to even count. Her doctors here at UT Southwestern have been amazing and have become very close to her. They all truly care about her cancer journey and continually work extremely hard to give her back her life. 2021 was an extreme year of ups and downs but she made it through to the other side and I can’t wait to see what 2022 and the countless years ahead for her will entail!

Thank you all for the countless texts and calls of encouragement, donations, jointing her 5k and for being a huge part of her support system. We all appreciate it very much!
