As promised, I said I would update you ASAP when Jared had his repeat MRV. We went down last Friday, for an MRV and to meet with Dr. Kym.

Dr. Kym was the interventionist who worked on Jared's pretty serious blood clot the day after his accident.  It was a long procedure, and the outcome at the time wasn't what we hoped for. He was able to clear some of the clot to get blood flowing again, but was unable to removed the clot for fear of doing irreparable damage to the jugular vein. Jared has been on blood thinners to help stop more clots from forming while his body would hopefully absorb the current clot. Typically the protocol is 6 months, but Dr. Kym didn't feel comfortable with the extenuating circumstances to just stop blood thinners without re-scanning.

Dr. Kym showed us the scans again from the MRV in March and whether it was shock, fear, panic, or all of the above at the time, I didn't actually realize how bad the clot was and why it needed immediate intervention. The scan he showed us from March had zero blood flow through his jugular vein on the left side. The great news is the scan from Friday showed blood flow. It's not 100% compared to his right, but do to the trauma to the vein Dr. Kym says it may never be 100%, but he is completely satisfied and no longer concerned. He is taking him off of the Coumadin (blood thinner). Jared is so excited about this. I think the whole appointment gave us both a lot of relief that we truly are on the road to hopefully a fairly full recovery. Dr. Kym does want him to be aware of headaches or a new kind of headache as he goes off blood thinners, because there is always the risk of new clots forming once off blood thinners and headaches can be a sign.

It's that time of the year and when the weather is fit, the combines are going. Jared loves being on the farm full time. It is incredible how much more relaxed and less stressed he is now. He tells me daily how much better he feels. Some of this, I understand, is just his state of mind when it comes to doing what he truly loves. Although I think the fresh air, being out of an office, and not staring at a computer has so much more to do with how his head feels than we ever thought it would.  I am just so thankful I get to see him so happy doing what he LOVES. Now if I can just get him to understand he is still recovering and can't work traditional Harvesting hours. Unfortunately, one of the lasting issues is reverting mainly in speech and balance when he overworks himself or gets too tired. He covers it up pretty darn good, but I can catch it every time. Advice Welcome 😉

When the Lord works within people, he can do incredible things!!!! For the Last few months we have put Jared's hearing a bit on the back burner. Back in July when he trialed the crossover hearing device, he really liked it and thought that was a great option for him rather than doing a surgery for the Baha device. As most people know, hearing devices are expensive. We really hoped our insurance might cover it since he lost his hearing due to the accident. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. We got a phone call last week from an absolutely amazing company in Watertown, Professional Hearing Services. Our silent prayers have been answered in unimaginable ways. With the endless help of Dr. Decker and his staff, the company who makes the crossover hearing device that Jared needs, donated this device. Today he met with Dr. Decker and fit his new crossover hearing aids. Thank you will once again never be enough and the Lord has blessed us in ways we could never imagine after weathering a pretty rough storm.

As always, Thank You everyone for the continued Love & Prayers. Our family is so incredibly Blessed, we will never be able to say Thank You enough. We continue to ask Jesus Christ for guidance in what we still consider our new life and pray he can work through us every day, and that we can give others the hope and unending love we have received from each of you and from our Lord and Savior.
