I'll be honest, these past few weeks have been full of many emotions as Jared's M.D. Anderson appointments and scans in Houston draw near. Either way, whether the scans would be in KC or there, this is a big scan. The scan will be two months to the day from the last set of scans. By now we should start to see the tumors shrinking if Jared's body is responding to the treatment. The time in between and especially as the next set of scans approach bring what they call "scanxiety". 

For the last few weeks, I felt the Lord nudging me to start spending time reading the Bible, talking and praying as a couple right before bed. Jared has trouble sleeping especially at night and I wondered if that would help. I received a beautiful message from one of my nursing professors from MNU, Rachel Tweedy Storm, encouraging us to "read the passages in the Bible where people came to Jesus for healing and He had compassion on them and healed. BE those people coming to Jesus - and don't let go until the work is done. Thank him now for Jared's healing. It will be done according to his word." Jared and I started a devotion this past week on the miracles of Jesus. We have already started feeling the Lord work in that time! 

 

This weekend we took an impromptu trip to see my parents and drop Anberlin off to stay with my dad as we are away. My sister and her friend surprised us, so we enjoyed some good family time! Even got to have dinner with my grandma Barbara and grandpa Al to celebrate their 30th anniversary!

Spoiler Alert- the best part of this post: Today we attended Westside Church of the Nazarene (the same church we said our vows over 4.5 years ago) with my parents. Pastor Cecil Brown asked the church to surround us believing that God will HEAL Jared in His name and anointed Jared with oil! It was so powerful being surrounded by so many people praying even though many do not know us. We know God is bigger than Stage 4 Cancer and we are trusting in Him to get rid of the tumors. We are praying Jared will be healed to bring hope to others! The whole service I could not help but keep thinking "God will heal" over and over again as a reminder to not just say it, but believe it!
