The journey begins, although it really started a few months ago. In July 2021 mom and dad were both sick and we brought mom into the med-center.  Because of the nature of her symptoms they suspected pneumonia and therefore did a quick x-ray of her lungs. Pneumonia it was and steroids helped her feel better but they saw a shadow that made them want her to follow up with her doctor.  After more testing, a lot of waiting, and more testing they decided to do a biopsy on that spot in mid-September.  It came back as cancerous.

The following 2 weeks were full of more tests and scans to determine what they were dealing with.  So far this is what we know: The spot is in the lower quarter of the right lung and has not metastasized within the lungs but they also need to check the lymph nodes before they can move forward with a plan. Plans to do more testing has been hindered by the fact that both mom and dad have just tested positive for covid so we need to wait until their quarantine period is up. They are both feeling like they are on the upswing, but still have healing to do. There are many questions that are still unanswered so we wait and pray.  God is our ultimate Healer and Miracle worker. We pray for His healing hand and have faith that the doctors will come up with a plan to treat through His will.

Mom would love encouragement and love from her family and friends! We will work at updating you all as often as we know more information to share.

"Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." Jeremiah 17:14

Newest Update

Journal entry by Holly Poll

Today was the follow up appointment with the cancer doctor.  Yesterday with the surgeon.  Both reported that there was no evidence of cancer.  All 26 lymph nodes from the lung were tested and every one was found clear.  The cancer seems to have been contained in the tumor that was removed.  Mom will have a scan every 6 months to be sure nothing is lingering in that area but we are so thankful for today's prognosis.  Both mom and dad will be in Florida by this time next week!  God has blessed us through this process in so many ways.  Thank you all for your never ending prayers and support.

I will close this journal with this:

II Corinthians 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
