Jan’s Story

Site created on October 6, 2022

Thank you for all of those that have reached out and for your prayers, they do not go unnoticed. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in August (2022) and will be beginning chemo on October 19, 2022. We will be using this site to keep family and friends up to date as she navigates this journey ahead of her and ways you may help my family. On the ways to help page, we have started a meal train.
Should you have any additional questions, we ask, at this time, that you reach out by phone or text to Ashley Love 704-574-0739 (tel:704-574-0739) or Nancy Pietrus (sister) 704-574-1377 (tel:704-574-1377).

Journal entry by Ashley Love

No, no that wasn't me jumping right from Halloween to Christmas (at least not yet!)

But, did you hear the bells today? Today, mom has finished chemo and she WRANG THAT BELL!! What an accomplishment and feeling of relief it was for her, for all of us.

My title does remind me of the poem "I heard the Bells on Christmas Day" and I wanted to share a portion of the poem:

And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to
men!"
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."

Poem touches on God's goodness and the freedom that can only come through Him.

Psalm 103:1-5 Praise the Lord, my soul;

    all my inmost being, praise His holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all His benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Today was SO good! Moms, sister and brother-in-law came (Aunt Nancy and Uncle Richard) as well as a surprise visit from Aaron and Becca (a quick day trip for them). We all took turns sitting with her during her infusion and of course there for the main event.

I know it has been quite a few months since you have heard from me, I am so sorry about that. You missed some good days, some hard days, an engagement, a beach trip with the FIVE of us, and a lot of love to go around!!

Thank you again for all the friends, family that rallied through out this year from all of the Loves - a big, teary thank you!!

Adding a few photos from today and photos from the past couple of months.
