Journal

Whew! It's been a rough two weeks! I got the fluid drained from my abdomen (Paracentesis) and then, had it done twice more. Apparently, this is my new life. In the meantime, my abdomen swells up like a watermelon and I am in level 8-9 pain. If there was a time I was ready to go, this was it!

I finally met with a palliative doctor and got the pain under control, but it leaves me either too groggy and dizzy to function or nauseous. But, I have been able to eat a bit more. I met with a pain doctor yesterday to talk about getting a Celiac Plexus block to possibly block the pain. Then, I could cut back on the drugs. That doctor is talking about trying a less risky process first of just deadening the abdominal muscles to see if that helps. They are also discussing a Fentanyl patch.

We talked with the Mayo Oncologist about my last CT Scan. He said that, while the cancer isn't progressing very fast, it isn't reducing, which is what they were hoping for. They will do 3 more rounds of this chemo and then have another scan. And possibly, switch to a much harsher chemo at that time. The constant build up of fluid (Acites) is very concerning to him.

Finally, we have been starting to talk to hospice places. They would do a good job of keeping me comfortable, but I would have to be done with treatment and they won't take me to the hospital for anything. So, it would be a big decision. One we aren't quite ready to make yet.

As you can see, lots going on.

Prayer Requests
-That I would feel God's presence in a very real way. And, that I would have a heart filled with gratitude.
-A good pain management plan.
-Continued prayer for no infections.
-Strength for Mike, as he is required to help me more.
-No complications with the continued paracentesis.
