Janice’s Story

Site created on April 10, 2022

In mid-November of 2021, my stomach started feeling "wonky."   But, we had a big month of family in December in Colorado.   So, I just kept an eye on it.  Once we returned home, it was still feeling that way, so I went to the Doctor.  Since then, I have had a barrage of surgeries, tests and procedures until finally, on April 5th, the results came back as positive for malignancy and the prospects are not good. It is thought that the cancer originated in my gallbladder and has spread.  Due to the fibrotic, extensive nature, it is inoperable and incurable.  And so, we now move to Oncology on April 13th, to find out our options.

I know that some of you are hearing this for the first time, even though we've been dealing with it for a while.  I am so sorry about that.  We wanted to be sure of what we were dealing with before making it public.

If you know me, you know that I love the Lord with all my heart.  He has always been faithful to me, making a way where there is no way.  And I will continue to kneel before Him, asking for healing and courage.  The Bible is filled with His promises.  We serve a big God! Please join me in praying for healing!  Pray also for wisdom, as we choose the next path.  And for my family to feel His arms wrapped tightly around them, as they come to terms with this very hard news.

Journal entry by Janice Dimond

Chemo #3 today. Eight hours later, I’m finished.

Two things- God is still good and I am still fighting!

As is the journey in someone with cancer, this past few weeks had it's ups and downs. The day after the last chemo, I ended up in the ER with a fever and chills. Honestly, I was in a dark, dark place. Just so tired of this journey. I actually told God I was ready to go. But, He said, "No." So, I sent out a prayer request to a few of my prayer warriors and they got busy praying God's light and hope back into my life.

As the week progressed, I went from depression to gratitude. The CT scan they did at the ER showed that there was no fistula that they could see!!! Praise God!!! Also, they showed no more blockage. Again, Praise God! I am able to eat almost everything now. Still small portions, but such variety! And, in the end, they sent me home. So, no hospital stay!

Since then, I have been getting back in the fight. I've posted a video (youtube link) of a very short example of my work out. I am breathing in 90% oxygen and wearing a sauna suit to sweat out the toxins. Normally, I am blasting praise songs to keep my mind on the God Who is giving me this ability.

Prayer Requests
-Still praying against getting any infections. Yesterday, we were told that I need to get my gallbladder drain replaced ASAP. That always ends with an infection, so prayers they will come up with a way to get it done and no infections.
-Still losing weight. Prayers that I can eat enough.
-Prayers for healing
