Journal
Greetings, my dad wrote the following concerning my mother Jan Wendling:
...
As you know, my Jan has been fighting for life with multiple health issues for two and a half years. Last Sunday, she was taken to the hospital and immediately put into ICU for what was diagnosed as bacterial pneumonia. Everything happened so fast as we waited, prayed at her side and hoped for healing. But I am saddened to tell you that four days later on September 21, Jan entered her eternal home. I am so grateful for the life the Lord gave us together…far more than I deserved. She was the gracious soul-mate in everything we ever did during our 57 years of life and ministry together. My grief seems unbearable, but I am thankful that she is safely in the forever fellowship with our Lord Jesus and others she loved during this earthly journey.
As many friends have asked about sending flowers, the Wendling family invites you to consider making a contribution to the Jan China Scholarship Fund - 简芳德奖学金 - (Jian Fangde Jiangxuejin), in lieu of flowers,. The fund was established in 2016 in honor of Jan Wendling, who served Asian students for 50 years and resided in Japan and China for 40 years. The Fund is administrated by a China Board of Directors for the purpose of providing educational scholarships to the children of poor Chinese countryside pastors. Currently, 33 students from 20 ministry families are receiving a scholarship. Gifts are tax-deductible from PLIES, PO Box 1273, Wrightwood, CA 92397. You can also give online at https://kikischarity.org/donate/ In the "designation" field select "Jan China Scholarships".
November 18 10AM - a memorial service will be held in honor of Jan at Lake Avenue Church, Pasadena, California.
My family and I thank you for your prayers, friendship and support,
Mark
