Jane’s Story

Site created on October 23, 2019

Hi Dear Ones,

On Sat. Oct 19th Jane had a hemorrhagic stroke.  This means that there was not a clot, but a rupture of an artery. Or as we lovingly say, she blew a head gasket. There was a serious amount of bleeding in the deep part of the right side of the brain. She was surrounded by her brother John and sister-in-law Gayle who were quickly and gracefully able to help her. They knew to direct her to Regions where she would get the best care.  The ambulance arrived within ten minutes and she was at the ER in about an hour. Her assessment showed severe bleeding in her brain with a very unknown prognosis. As we rallied the troops we waited and watched this strong woman decide that she wants to fight to stay here with us. We will continue to update here how that fight, how that road, how that raft, is navigating these waters.

💙Hello Friends and Family,

I hope you have all enjoyed some peaceful and quiet holidays. There was this feeling of relief and sadness at the same time. Relief that I really didn't need to put on a bra and sadness for the loss of all the hustle and bustle and belly laughs that the holidays have brought in the past.

We were able to get out twice by renting a van and first going to the Glow festival at the fair grounds and then driving around, somewhat aimlessly, looking for all the fun houses that went above and beyond with their Christmas decorations.

Holy Moly rocky, you all have been so fun and generous these last few weeks. We have seen coffee pods delivered, gift cards sent and cards that are so heartfelt and kind. We have bought extra cookies and heavy cream and butter!! Your gifts helped me rent the  wheelchair vans twice. Thank you, thank you.

Mom continues to be able to swim and have personal training twice a week and we are so grateful.

I have more pictures than I could put in this post, so I will add some more to the page.

Some notes that my mom wanted to make sure you all knew and pictures for those added to her page. Go and check them out in her gallery.

1. She lives at Waverly Gardens in North Oaks and her caregivers have been amazing and routinely go above and beyond (5919 Centerville Road #19 St. Paul, MN 55127)

2. Tessa, John and Alden welcomed a baby, Jane's new Granddaughter, Hazel! She is a great addition and possibly the cutest baby ever!!

3. Tanner is building a new garage

4. John has passed his Physician's Assistant exam and is now a certified PA -white coat and all!

5. Graham has continued to completely rebuild his truck and has climbed some crazy hikes over the past year

6. Mom, Jane, continues to make progress in therapy and gets good laughs from stories of her therapist's two twin girls

7. Your love and support and calls mean the world and she sees and reads and appreciates every one.

We are hoping for progress and peace and maybe some mask-less visits in 2021 and we wish you the same.

Sincerely, Jane, Maggie and the rest of the JP team
