Jane Carlyle Patete, 79, of Chalfont, PA, and formerly of Duluth, GA, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2023.

Jane was born in Temple, TX on November 28, 1943, to Jesse Clifton and Sarah Pridmore Land, both of whom preceded her in death along with her sister, Sally Land Daughdrill. She grew up in Tupelo and Clinton, Mississippi. Jane earned her bachelor's degree from Mississippi College and went on to earn a master's degree.

She was the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Rev. Thomas Patete. Jane is survived by her two children: Amy (Tim) Gresham of Chalfont, PA and Robert (Christine) Patete of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Seth (Maddy) Gresham, Paige (Max) Drake and Ellie Gresham and Annalise, Carlisle and Jesse Patete; and great-grandson Noah.

She worked as a high school English teacher in Atlanta, GA while Tom attended seminary. After moving to the Philadelphia area, Jane worked for many years in the Westminster Theological Seminary library.

Tom and Jane moved to Duluth, GA in 1993, where Jane served as the Coordinator of Women's Ministries in the Presbyterian Church in America and as a Women’s Trustee Advisor on the Board of Covenant College. Susan Hunt wrote, “Jane’s love for the Lord, His Word, and His church overflowed in her love for women and her delight in serving them.” Heaven will reveal the spiritual impact of a consistently pray-first, plan-second collaborative leader. Her life of humility, commitment to prayer, and high view of the Church compelled those she touched towards a greater love for Christ and His Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed, yet her family knows that she rests with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jane’s name to either of these ministries that are near and dear to Jane’s heart:

A private burial will be held in Flowery Branch, GA on Saturday, September 23.

The memorial service for Jane will be held at Trinity Orthodox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 30 at 10:00 A.M. (151 W. County Line Road Hatboro, PA 19040).
