Janell’s Story

Site created on September 7, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

The end of June, Janell had a routine physical and everything looked OK.  On July 14th she started to feel achy and tired with lots of Covid like symptoms.  After a few trips to urgent care and being treated twice for a UTI and still not feeling any better she ended up seeing her own Doctor on August 22 and was given a blood test and had a chest X-ray done. Her bloodwork came back that her hemoglobin was at a 7 and her white cells were high.  She was admitted to her local hospital overnight where she received 2 units of blood.  Her Doctor saw some concerns on her blood work and ended up sending some blood to Alexandria and Mayo for review.  On August 30th she saw a Doctor at Mayo Clinic in Rochester where it was confirmed that she has Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

We appreciate everyone's prayers!

Journal entry by Janell Koehl

I am finally on my way HOME after recovering from my last round of chemo!  Although it is exciting to finally be home with our family it was hard to say goodbye to all the friends, Dr.s, NPs and nurses that have helped us during this last 6 1/2 month journey.

Thanks does not seem adequate to all of you that have helped our family these last months.  The phone calls, texts, visits, food brought in, and all other support and prayers have been truly overwhelming!

God has been so good to our family and has helped us through this valley.  Continue to pray that the cancer stays in remission and for others that are still fighting.

May God bless each of you like you have been a blessing to us!!💕
