We've made it through three chemo treatments now and Jane Ellis is still impressing everyone with her upbeat attitude and determination to take on lymphoma as a mere blip on the radar of her life. She decided a proper "bon voyage" to her glorious hair would be to dye it purple before saying goodbye. We had her first wig fitting last week and can't wait for the finished product to arrive in a few days. She's so excited about her beautiful "new hair" that she now hopes to attend the upcoming school picture party with classmates. Having that (and a new dress) to look forward to has really lifted her spirits. For Jane Ellis, the hardest part of all this is the isolation she feels when she can't go to classes. It's no fun feeing like "the cancer girl."
We had another fun "doctor approved" outing when she felt good enough to attend last week's Town Hall assembly on campus. Her adored Pedro made a wonderful speech updating the senior class on everything Jane Ellis is enduring. We are so incredibly humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love and support from classmates, teachers, family and friends. Every day is a challenge but knowing you are all joining us in the battle makes it that much easier. Thank you all so much for being there. I hope one day I can somehow thank each of you individually but, for now, please just know how much you are appreciated. Love and hugs, Lynn
