Journal

During Christmas, I had a sharp pain in my side. I thought I may have tweaked it loading the car or playing with the dogs. When I got my PET scan results back, they said “Trauma to my 3rd rib”. I just figured I cracked it or bruised it. It was feeling good a couple of weeks later so I never thought about it again…until last week.

Back up 4 weeks ago, I started having terrible pain in my left shoulder/neck area. The pain was so bad it almost took my breath away. The oncologist ordered an MRI, but I had to wait 2 weeks to get in. They found a 3cm Lytic Lesion (Myeloma Lesion) on my left clavicle area. I met with a Radiation Oncologist last week and will start 10 days of radiation in that area starting on Monday. This is new to me as I have only had radiation once right before my bone marrow transplant. I will not lose my hair and should have minimal side effects.  I am very grateful that they were able to schedule all of my radiation appointments before or after school so I don't have to miss any work.

I did ask why they didn’t find it on my PET scan. They said the shoulder areas light up from arthritis and they assumed it was just that. For this reason, I am glad the pain showed up so we can get it treated. He also thinks the area on my rib is most likely myeloma as well.

Dr. Tarantolo, my oncologist has ordered several Multiple Myeloma tests. I will have a Bone Marrow MRI, an MRI of my foot (pain has now begun on my foot), 24-hour urine, labs, and a Bone Marrow Biopsy. All of these tests will be completed this upcoming week. The bone marrow biopsy takes 10-14 days to get back, so I won’t know right away.

I am ready to put on my gloves and knock this out again. Cancer should know not to mess with me.

My ever-faithful prayer warriors. Please pray the myeloma is contained in my shoulder, my scans and labs are normal, and radiation to kill the myeloma and take the pain away.

I appreciate all of you and will kick this again!

Love you
