Good News!!!!

I just returned home from my appointment with my surgeon; he

did a post-op check and we talked about my pathology.

  1.  Everything is looking good.  Those “bumps” in my

port incision scars are just inflammation and will calm down

  1.  OK to drive;  another 2 to 4 weeks before any core exercises/

 leg presses, etc.

  1.  It will probably take a total of 3 months for my current discomfort

to dissipate and to feel “normal”... whatever that turns out to be.

My pathology report from surgery showed no remaining cancer cells anywhere.

The entire malignancy was removed by my GYN when he removed my polyp.

So I am Stage 1a, Grade 2.

My surgeon does not recommend any adjuvant treatment; I thought he

might recommend radiation, but he feels that close surveillance will be

sufficient.  My next appointment with him is in September (3 months)

and here’s hoping I will be in top form by then!

I realize how fortunate I am.

A great gynecologist who “forced” that ultrasound on me and did an

  exceptional job removing my polyp

A great surgeon experienced in robotic surgery who made the “body

parts removal” experience far better than I anticipated.

Friends who supported me through this last month.  Thanks for all the

calls, texts, emails, cards, meals, cookies, and flowers!

And a great family (including a shout-out to Nurse Sid who drove down from

MA to tend to his mom, Ryan who accompanied me to my surgeon visits,

and Dave who fed me, hugged me, and kept me on the straight and narrow).

I think all of you know how much I like to travel.  In the last 17 months, I’ve been

away from home exactly 3 nights, and poor Dave has been away only one night.

So I have the Viking/Oceania/Audley Travel/ Road Scholar brochures on my desk.

I want to go somewhere, anywhere, and I truly am thankful and grateful that I can go

   with peace of mind.
