Journal entry by Jamie Runion —
Hooray for Friday! It means zero to me but probably way more to you. Again, cancer is pretty boring and my days are all out of sorts 😝.
Anyhow, hi! It’s me with an update! On Monday we saw Dr. Hawkins at Siteman to discuss my CT results and see what the next step is. Unfortunately we didn’t get any major news, but we did get a plan in place for the next three months. I’ll be staying on the current chemo regime to see if it shrinks the spots on my liver any more. Dr. Hawkins also wanted to have a second set of eyes on the scan results because he thinks the images may be skewed a bit. After I finish the 12 rounds of chemo (five more sessions), I’ll see him again and we will discuss surgeries and liver infusions, and possible radiation. Dr. Hawkins has some tricks up
his sleeve, so we are hopeful.
The gross reality is that I’ll never NOT have cancer. I’m going to likely be fighting this for a very long time, and I’ll likely never go into full remission. There’s a chance I could beat this 100%, but I’d have to be a pretty rare case for that to happen. The good news is that I can be treated and I still have a lot of life left on me. So with that being said, I’m going to keep on trucking! I’m staying positive and hopeful, clinical trials could change a lot of things for me, and we still have treatment options!
I’m feeling really really good this last week, and my eighth round of chemo is coming up Monday!
Thanks for all the support, PLEASE keep those positive thoughts and vibes coming my way!
Love you all,
Jamie
