Jamey’s Story

Site created on May 28, 2020

On 5/27/20 Jamey went to the Urgent Care because he was having problems catching his breath. They did a chest X-Ray and sent him directly to Mercy hospital where he was immediately admitted. Jamey has a tumor on his lung and his left Adrenal Gland. The hospital is continuing to do scans to determine if any other organs are involved.  Jamey came home from the Hospital after a 10 day stay. He has a diagnosis of Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma (kidney cancer) Stage 4. It has spread to his adrenal gland and his pleural cavity of his lung. He has a wonderful team of Doctors. We know that the Lord has this and are faithful that all will be well!

Today marks 2 years since Jameys diagnosis. So much has happened in the past two years, hard hard days but many thankful days too.
I am inspired by my husband everyday. When I have to do something hard, he is the first person I think of. He fights hard, stays positive, is only crabby once in awhile (maybe more that once in awhile) 😆 he never is “woe is me” or “why me”. He knows there are others out there that have it worse than him.
Statistically this type of cancer is brutal, it’s sneaky, it doesn’t respond to many typical treatments. We are thankful for Jamey’s wonderful team, his Oncologist is so compassionate and tells Jamey often how proud he is of him and in how hard he fights. We are thankful that kidney cancer treatment is constantly evolving.

Jamey currently is battling lymphedema and has been receiving therapy to help with this. He struggles with bone and joint pain which makes sleeping difficult.
His early May brain MRI didn’t bring good news. He has 2 new spots. One is too small to even treat at this point but the second spot is a concern. His Radiologist has agreed to wait 6 weeks and repeat the MRI to see if there has been growth.
He had his yearly bone scan recently and that was clean, thank God. His recent CT shows stability in kidney & lymph nodes. His lungs & adrenal gland remains showing “no evidence of disease” and I pray it remains that way….those are the 2 areas they responded completely to treatment.
Thank you to everyone who continues to reach out and to pray for us. I am beyond thankful that Jamey is still here after 2 years of fighting. He is a true warrior 🧡💪🏼
