James’s Story

Site created on September 12, 2022

In the early hours on Sunday morning, James' was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road with his friends. He was care flighted to the nearest trauma center where he is now in the ICU receiving excellent care. Initial findings were brain, neck, spine, major organs all checked out great. He has a broken left Tibia, several broken bones on the left side of his face, and a large cut on his left cheek.

Good morning friends!  After a few days recovering, James had his follow up appointment yesterday at 8:30 am with his eye surgeon.  The surgeon was pleased with how everything looks. We are so thankful that he was able to do some eyelid work this time around! The surgeon believes that if things heal nicely that James might not need another surgery down the road. That’s what we’re hoping and praying for!

The days after surgery were pretty rough for James with the pain being pretty intense. That was expected with the amount of work that was done on him, but difficult nonetheless. His years as a football player and especially as a wrestler gave him a mental toughness that has helped him push through all of this.

The plan is to have a check up with the surgeon a month or so from now. (Hopefully his last one!). Grandma Sheila and I drove all day and night to get us back to Indiana around 5am this morning. We are glad to be home.  I know James is ready to continue therapy to get back to 100% and get on with life!

All Glory to God for how far James has come! We appreciate every prayer, kind word and thoughtful deed that was done for James and our family!
Love, Sarah & Jimmy
