James’s Story

Site created on July 16, 2015

13 years in and James is still battling Appendix Cancer. He underwent his 3rd debulking surgery on 11/26/18 and we continue to pray for slow growth and to hold off the need of a 4th debulking surgery…well forever (would be nice)

Happy Valentines Day family and friends!

I’m happy to report my magic mushrooms are working! (I’m kidding - I don’t have any mushrooms)

James had his 6 month appointments over the last couple days and, as always, the days were filled with angst, calm and relief. Anyone who has been through the repeat scans every few months, knows the scanxiety that comes with it.

Anywho…

Labs showed tumor markers again through the roof and continuing to rise but again we are told those don’t mean too much for him.

His procedure for his stent was better than expected as it didn’t require a change and no follow up for 1 year unless symptoms arise. Woohoo!

Scan… again, minimal growth. Up to 1cm in one of the three places, less than a cm in the other 2. Given, he can consume food without issue or restraint, we continue to watch and see what happens. Oh and no new spots!

He has a hernia which hasn’t changed much but he was warned it would likely give him issues before his disease. It is hard for me to watch this man all the time so he doesn’t lift, move or do something stupid that may increase the size of that! Geez, let the nagging wife return! 😂 some would say I never left.

Thank you for your prayers and groovy vibes! We appreciate it!
