James’s Story

Site created on February 10, 2019

When James was six months old, he was diagnosed with a type of brain cancer called anaplastic oligodendroglioma after experiencing a seizure. He had brain tumor resection surgery after that and had stable scans for 14 months until a routine scan on April 14, 2020, showed regrowth of the tumor. He had brain tumor resection surgery again, followed by 30 rounds of Proton Radiation.
While James’ tumor remains stable thanks to an oral inhibitor (chemo), he is now struggling with severe epilepsy and is having 1-12 seizures a day. After some testing, he is scheduled for a temporal lobectomy.

Journal entry by Katie Fagan

Hello and happy Friday! We just wanted everyone to know that this week was another milestone for our brave little man, James. He was officially weaned off all of his seizure meds and is now completely medication free! He has almost completed his first year at school and the improvement and progress we have seen in his development has been nothing short of phenomenal. James is looking forward to summer school, tubing on Lake Maxinkuckee and generally just being a regular 5 year old!! Hats off to his parents for their constant love and devotion to both James and Jack Jack-we have a lot to celebrate this year!

Your love and prayers always keep us going ❤️ Doing the happy dance!!
