James J Hogan, 69, of Mantoloking, New Jersey and formerly of Wyckoff, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday June 12th, 2022 at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. James (Jim) was born in New York, NY and moved to Lindenhurst, NY as a young boy. He was blessed with great athletic ability, an unmatched sense of humor, and a heart almost too big to contain. Jim received his BA & MA from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville in Education Psychology. Following graduation, Jim sustained a long and successful career as a business executive, helping many organizations improve both marketing efforts and sales. Jim seemed to be at his happiest when his passion for his children and sports overlapped. He coached youth teams in Wyckoff for over two decades, impacting the lives of countless young athletes in that town. Jim cherished every minute of time with his teams and still spoke of those moments amongst friends and family. As his children grew, Jim began to focus his efforts on the Ramapo High School (RHS) Booster Program, which improved the RHS athletic facilities during his tenure. Jim also was elected to serve on the Ramapo/Indian Hills Regional School Board where he served for three years. Jim’s most cherished role in life was to love and support his growing family. Recently dubbed Most Valuable Pops (MVP), he valued his most important role as a dedicated and supportive grandfather to his five grandchildren. He was loving, kind, and selfless. He was a friend to all, life of the party, and truly lived life to the fullest every day. James was predeceased by his father Robert Hogan and his brother Michael Hogan. Surviving are his wife of 36 years Mary Ellen, his mother Dorothy Hogan, his beloved children Christopher Hogan and wife Ashley, Jeffrey Hogan, Erinn Hogan and fiancé Charley Stanley, his cherished grandchildren Chase, Parker, Peyton, Carter and Owen, and his siblings; sister Deirdre DuPlessis, and brothers Steve and Brian Hogan. In keeping with his family’s wishes, all services will be held privately. O’Brien Funeral Home Wall Twp is handling arrangements for the Hogan family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Nurses House, Inc at 2113 Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY 12084 or online at https://donate.nurseshouse.org/campaigns/22570-james-hogan-memorial .
