Journal

From the bottom of our hearts, Allison and I want to thank you for all the love, support, and prayers that have been poured out on Jake and our family during this time.  We are overwhelmed with the meals and gifts (including financial), texts and calls, cards and letters, and especially prayers on our behalf.

Jake continues to be super happy, active, and healthy apart from the regression in his ability to process verbally.  He still loves going to school, playing with other kids, being outside, playing any sport, reading books, and watching t.v.

Since my last email the only medical update we have received is the results of his sedated hearing test, which concluded that his hearing is perfect.  This means that his inability to process auditory information is in his brain, which is more evidence of the disorder that the neurologist identified.  We continue to wait on his bloodwork to be processed, which will give a more specific and detailed diagnosis of his disorder.  Those results should come back in early to mid-October.

In the midst of this difficult season, Allison and I continue to believe that God is Sovereign over Jake’s life - that He created Jake, set him in our family, and knows every square inch of his body.  We also continue to believe that God is a miracle-working God - that He has the power to heal and restore every misaligned cell.  Just like many of you, we are praying passionately to that end - asking God and believing He is able to touch our boy.

We also want to take every opportunity to share the goodness of God in this season.  To explicitly declare that God’s existence and goodness are not dictated by whether or not He heals Jake, but that his love for us was forever cemented by the sacrifice of HIS OWN SON on our behalf.  And so we are clinging to Jesus in this time and want to point others to the same.  We sense God’s presence with us on this journey. And so we ask for your prayers not only for Jake, but that we would have boldness to share our hope in Jesus.

Thank you again for all the support during this time, but especially the PRAYERS.  We take great comfort in the fact that so many people are passionately praying for Jake.  “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”  James. 5:16

With love,

Aaron, Allison, Jake, Shep and Collins
