Sign In to Show Your SupportToday is the big day! I had my last round of chemo yesterday morning. It was a gloomy/rainy day so I did not get out the patio at all, but I did finish my book, so that's a plus.
The process, today, started around 5am. Vitals checks, barrage of questions, and meeting with the nurses. Then it was 4 hours of fluids via IV. I will be getting 9 bags of cells (currently in the middle of bag 2). It is a painless process, just annoying. I get vitals every 5 minutes for the entire process, verify who I am with every bag, and an irritating tickle in my throat making me cough (apparently the most common side effect). After the transfusion is completed I will have to do another 4 hours of fluids. If my body is doing well, I get to go home - well our temporary home at the hotel.
The rest of the week should be pretty smooth. If my body reacts as it has with other chemos, I will likely start getting sick for a few days beginning this weekend. Starting Sunday for the following 2 weeks my immune system will be at its weakest. So Sunday through the following 2 weeks are going to be rough. If it gets too rough they will just admit me back into the hospital. I will have daily appointments to monitor how my body is handling everything up to the day we get to go home.
Thank you all for your love and support ❤️
