Newest Update

Journal entry by Jacob McCreary

Hey everyone. Got a few updates here. I had surgery Thursday morning on my left foot. They removed a pin from my first surgery and replaced it with two new pins at different angles. I also had a fusion of 3 bones in my mid foot. These bones had a lot of damage to the bottom 1/3 of each of the bones so they had to be plated and screwed together before they could add bone graft and pull the bones against each other. All of this took about 4 hours. I waited for a room for quite a while in the recovery area and was admitted at midnight. I had a pretty sleepless night but I was discharged friday morning right before 10 am. There's a chance that this is my last surgery. We won't know for a month or so. We are waiting to see if a tendon in my left foot will heal on its own or if it will need to be re anchored. There's also some risk the bone graft doesn't take but I'm told that it's a minimal risk. I have a long road ahead but it feels good to be through these 3 major surgeries. I really can't say enough how thankful I am for all the support my family and I are receiving from all of you, financial or otherwise. The world is still full of kindhearted people and that fills me with a lot of hope. Together we can accomplish anything. Thank you for the meals for the girls, the books, the messages, thank you for everything. I will gladly pay the kindness forward the rest of my life. We would not have gotten through this without all of you. We have incredible family and friends. I hope all of you have a great extended weekend. I will update this again when I learn more or if anything new happens.

All the love,
Jake
