Journal entry by Dave Fisher —
From Chrissy……. Jackson is opening his eyes on his own, occasionally giving us a thumbs up, and pointed to Joey and I. After the last 9 days these have meant absolutely everything to us. He had a repeat CT & MRI this morning showing nothing new, and what they would expect to see after a bleed and hydrocephalus , the swelling is going down and the bleeding is getting better. They have been able to get a lot of fluid off of him, we have paused dialysis for the day to see what his kidneys do, knowing that there’s a chance he’ll need to go back on the circuit. From a stem cell transplant perspective he is engrafting! His ANC is 940, and his white blood cells are climbing up. The team is hoping to extubate him in the next 24-72 hours, he had a “CPAP” trial this morning and did amazing. Jackson has an incredibly long road ahead of him, and this is just the beginning of his recovery but these small things are letting us know that our spunky sweet boy is still in there and fighting so hard to come back to us! 🤍
