Journal entry by Tianna Hoppe-Rooney —
Today we met with Lakeview Funeral Home and were provided with the regulations that must be followed in the midst of this global pandemic. As you might expect, the plans for a traditional farewell to our Jack need to be changed to prioritize the safety and health of our loved ones. No gatherings of more than 10 people are currently allowed. Given these restrictions, only immediate family members are able to attend the visitation and burial. We have, and continue to feel so much love, from afar. It saddens us that Jack’s life cannot be honored and celebrated in the ways most familiar in our culture, however we are at peace that his life is indeed celebrated through his legacy.
Jack spent his life exhibiting acts of kindness and generosity. As a tribute and way to honor him, we are asking that each person that knew and loved him consider taking action as a salute to Jack’s memory. Be creative. Be loving. Be like Jack and do something small that will leave a big impact on a single person or relationship. His humble and quiet ways included beautiful gestures that positively imprinted on our world. Perhaps this is sending a caring text or writing a letter to your spouse or child (this was one of Jack’s favorite ways to express his feelings). Perhaps this is dropping off some toilet paper to a home-bound senior in the neighborhood. Together, we can spread a bit of sunshine and salute a life well-lived.
Finally, we ask that you pray that Jack’s journey to heaven be a quick one and that God our Father welcome him with loving and open arms. Please pray that Jack will be in the warm embrace of Debbie, his parents, grandparents, siblings, and others that have made the journey before him.
All our love,
Todd & Tianna, Jamie & Adam
