Journal

They say no news is good news and that is the case with Jack and how long it has been since the last journal entry! He is in the last phase of Course 4 and as we enter June, our minds are back on his transplant.

He has a few more days of treatment before he'll start the pre-transplant prep appointments. He is going in every other day for a chemo shot so it isn't terribly impacting on our calendar. Those will wrap up June 10 then he will have another bone marrow biopsy and 🙏 God willing, it will be negative and he can move ahead with the transplant.

His date for admittance is June 21 and transplant June 27.

Physically, he feels okay. Not terrible, but not like Superman either. He's been walking about 2 miles a day and has put on some good weight to take him into his transplant. His attitude is good, upbeat and chipper. But I know he has got to be going stir-crazy and feel like every day is just a repeat of the one before. His numbers have been low so he can't get out and about quite as much. But he has developed quite an interest in baseball and watches a good bit. He would never ask outright for visitors, but I'm sure he would like to see some friendly faces before going into the hospital and entering that 100 days of isolation period, even if it is just a FaceTime call. He does keep weird hours though depending on how he feels so a text first is good.

Walker is out of school now and Mims and I both work full time from home, so all four of us are banging around in our house bumping into one another! Which, for a mama, is not a bad thing. I love having all my favorite people together. 🥰 But it can be challenging. Someone wants to watch TV in the family room, but Mom is working, someone wants to play an instrument, but someone else  is sleeping, someone wants to read, but someone else is playing a video game and shrieking like a banshee in the next room...

In other news, Walker is doing great. He had his end-of-year tennis celebration last week and got the Player's Choice Award for his enthusiasm, sportsmanship and dedication to his team. I love that his teammates see that in him and chose him for the award. Not a bad start for a freshman, first-year player! He's going to be really busy in June--visiting grandparents, attending a tennis camp, and a church camp. Things may get a little tough on him in July because our schedule will look a bit different once Jack is admitted and at Emory for a month and we're trying to balance that, work and home.

Asking for prayers for things to move forward for Jack's transplant, for his physical and mental fortitude for the next few months, for Mom and Dad's workloads and job security this summer (not worried about anything specific, just want a good balance and support there), for Walker to feel cared for and not pushed aside once Jack is admitted. Prayers for Jack's donor and for his procedure and recovery.

Thanks for continuing to support us and checking in! ❤️
