Jack’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2023

Hi everyone, thank you for checking in on Jack. He was in a car accident Saturday night (9/16) and was rushed to Ben Taub trauma center in Houston. He suffered a brain injury and was taken for an emergency brain surgery. After the surgery he was placed on a ventilator and has been asleep since. As of right now we are waiting for him to wake up. We’ve talked with the doctor and neurosurgeons and were given disheartening news but we are not losing faith. He is young, strong, and resilient and we know he will get through this. We’ve found that he’s the most responsive when friends and family are around and when we play his favorite music. We welcome and appreciate all visitors, prayers, and thoughts for Jack.

A huge thank you to all that sent cards, gifts, texts and videos! I read them all to Jack but did not realize how emotional it would be! Handed them off to Caroline halfway through. We did the best we could and the facility took him to a car museum that was super cool. I’m not a car person and I enjoyed it! I think he was happy and we get a redo next year!!

Jack will be moving tomorrow to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE. He is now requiring a bit more care than QLI can support at this time. He is still positive and working really hard towards recovery.
