Journal entry by Whitney Munter —
Hello Everyone!
As Christmas approaches later this week our family has really thought long and hard about the struggles 2020 has brought our way, and also how much we are truly grateful for. We want to wish all of you, our friends and family, a wonderful and safe holiday season.
Jack is doing much better. He very rarely needs prescription pain medication anymore. When he does it is only at night to help him sleep. He still has some break through head aches and is pretty wiped out at the end of day. But overall, he is mostly back to the same old Jack we know and love. Since he has been feeling better he has been much more involved with Emme, and she is officially a 'Daddy's Girl.' I KNEW it would happen.... I just didn't think it would be SO SOON!!
I have also returned back to work now, so our life has slowly creeped back to some sort of normalcy.
Jack and I cannot thank you enough for all of your love an support since he fell ill with encephalitis in July. It has been a much longer road to recovery than we thought it would be. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, some day, 20 or 30 years from now we will look back at this small 6 month blip in our lives.... and say 'WOW.. that was CRAZY! But we made it through!"
From just myself. I am so grateful to still have Jack with me. I could not have stayed as psychologically and emotionally strong without you all. So many of you, even those I am not particularly close with, had the most uncanny ability to send a text, card, message, etc at the exact moment I NEEDED YOU. Thank You. Please know our family will be there for you, when you need us.
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe & healthy NEW YEAR!!
Love,
Whitney, Jack, & Emmerson
