Today is 6 weeks since Jack’s transplant! He had a quick procedure done at Children’s today to have his stent removed & a cystoscopy (where they check out his bladder with a camera). Jack has been doing really well! Before transplant he was throwing up ~8 times a day, and now he doesn’t throw up at all (unless he gets food stuck in his mouth). I’m so happy he’s feeling so much better. I can’t imagine puking like that for almost 2 years straight.
He is also so much more interested in food. He’s trying new things everyday, though he still just licks things and doesn’t actually know how to chew/swallow. He started back at feeding therapy & has started working on drinking his milk by mouth (a very very small amount). Everything food related/learning to eat and drink will still be a long road, but he’s in a MUCH better spot now!
The one thing he’s struggled with since transplant is sleep. He had always been an amazing sleeper…and now it’s the worst sleep Dan and I have dealt with since becoming parents 😅 So we’re a little tired lately. I’m not really sure what it’s related to. If I had to guess, now that he’s getting older I think he’s somewhat traumatized from the long hospital stay & wants to be near me and Dan.
Dan is also doing well! He *might* have tried playing golf a little too soon (a couple weeks ago) & was hurting from that 🤪 But he’s feeling good now! ❤️❤️
There are so many things in life that are much easier now that he’s not on dialysis! I’m grateful Dan was able to give him a much better quality of life. 💚
