One year.   It was a long time ago.  It was yesterday.

I spent this afternoon reading Jack's Caring Bridge site - all the journal entries and every single comment.  I cried.  I smiled.  I am happy and grateful.  I am sad.  And I am amazed.  Amazed by people.  Mostly in the smallest of ways.  I pay much more attention now to the little things that amaze me for it is truly these little things that make our lives amazing and our hearts full.

Yesterday I got to spend a few hours being amazed by amazing people doing these little amazing things.

I saw someone hold someone elses had.  I saw someone help someone to a seat.  I saw somoene hand someone a candle, a flower, a necklace or a ribbon.  I saw new friends greet each other.  I saw old friends hug each other.  I saw somoene give a kind look to someone else. I saw people pray. I saw people cry.  I saw strangers come together.  I saw neighbors helping neighbors.  I saw police officers and EMTs.  I saw people thanking those who serve our community in the most selfless of ways. I saw 2 aunts talk about their nephew.  I saw someone tell a story about their friend.  I saw a couple of someone elses be brave by stepping up to a microphone without planning a word to say and speak from their hearts. I saw so many tears.  I saw broken hearts.  I saw moms and dads and kids.  I saw someone who devoted time to  learn new songs so he could perform them beautifully for a group of people he didn't even know.  He sang songs that connected a group of people who will always be connected.  I saw balloons, one by one, being passed from stranger to friend to family member.  And then I saw all the balloons, as they were released by their holders, rise up, and come together in the sky as they went  "up,up. up and fly a little higher, go up in the clouds because the view's a littler nicer".  What a view it must have been from those clouds looking down at this group of people doing amazing things who were brought together once again because of ONE AMAZING boy.  

Look for what is amazing in life.    One year.  It was a long time ago.  It was yesterday.
