Journal entry by Jackie (Hall) Peterson —
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!! I just wanted to pop in and shout out a big thank you to all of you that have been there supporting Justin and I through this past year. We couldn't have done it without you. This year was so hard. Soooooo hard. But the love, support, and prayers that so many of you poured over us made all the difference. So thank you, thank you, thank you. And cheers to 2024, the first time I get to start a new year without a failing body since 2009!
I suppose I should include a little update as well. Things are still going great! Had my first virus in Nov. (is there anyone who managed to escape one virus or another over the last couple of months???) and my body handled it better than it has in years. It was scary waiting to see how my body would handle a virus, especially being on two immunosuppressants, but other than needing antibiotics at the end, it was just a run of the mill cold. I've started weaning off one of the anti rejection drugs and hope to be done with it by the end of Feb, at which point I get to go back out to the barn and finally get back on a horse. Very exciting news. I have my 180 day bone marrow biopsy on the 8th and then my poor hips finally get a break from being drilled into until June.
