The End. The Epilogue.

Well, it’s been 7 weeks, 2 days, 5 hours, and 22 minutes since Jackie and I pulled out of our garage heading to the emergency room. (OK, the actual minutes might be just a good guess, but you gotta love the dramatic affect.) As of approxiately 11:30 this morning we pulled back in. Thanks to her determination and the skilled therapist at Encompass Rehabilitation Jackie was able to get in and out of the car, up the steps and into the house with no trouble. Her recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.

Yesterday evening as we shared some thoughts about coming home today, I commented on the fact that we were gratefully about to end a significant chapter of her life. She quickly corrected me saying there’s still many hours and days of outpatient rehab before this chapter comes to an end. So you might say we’re now writing the Epilogue. She’s still dealing with ongoing back pain and is weak but the 10 days of intense therapy made a world of difference in her mobility. After a weekend of much needed quiet and rest she’ll begin outpatient rehab next week.

With that said, I believe it’s time to discontinue CaringBridge updates. Jackie is back to texting, calling and posting on Facebook so those interested can keep up with her as before. We’re forever grateful for everyone whose love, concern, and prayers helped sustain us through a most difficult time. You were truly the hands and feet of Christ during a time when we needed you most. May God bless you richly as you have blessed us.
