It is bittersweet to write this, our last communication with our circle of family and friends, and those we have met on this journey with Jack.  He has now been home for a little over two weeks and is taking it one day at a time.  His goal now is to get back his strength and to continue healing.  We have had several appointments since his arrival home, but every test and checkup has been great.  Now, it is with great happiness that we can announce that at his appointment today at Regions Surgical ICU, the surgeon told Jack that the drainage tube that was placed in his lung could be removed.  He said that the pre-procedure CT scan showed no more pockets of fluid in the lung and that there is no evidence that there has been any draining of fluid in his pancreas and abdomen.  So out came the tube and Jack was never more excited than at that moment.  He can now sleep and sit without having the tube and stopper pushing into his back.  We have another appointment scheduled shortly with his orthopedic doctor who will be checking to see how the rods in his shoulders are doing.  But with faith and prayers we know that all will be well.

Many of you have been asking how you still can help.We have begun a GoFundMe page for Jack. As you can all imagine, his medical bills are astronomical - and the person who hit Jack had just the minimum coverage under Minnesota law, so there was very little help from the insurance companies.  Jack's life has already been altered from this accident and we do not want him to succumb to the weight of medical debt.  If you choose to do so, you can connect to Jack’s GoFundMe page by clicking on "Ways to Help" above or by going to https://www.gofundme.com/jackgreavu

As a final note to this last communication I would like to share a saying that our dad always told us.  "You can judge a person's true wealth by his family and friends" so I say to all of you, thank you for making us a truly wealthy family.  Your caring, prayers, encouragement and thoughts have made Jack's family truly blessed and we wish you all God's blessings and our heartfelt gratitude.

Love To All

Jack’s Family
