Jack’s Story

Site created on August 28, 2022

On Wednesday August 24th, Jack was taken to Region’s Hospital for severe abdominal pain.  He was found to have severe acute pancreatitis but its unknown what caused it.  He was admitted to the ICU for pain control and managed his blood sugars initially.  By the next day, he unfortunately continued to get worse.   He is currently intubated, on a ventilator, sedated, and requiring continuous dialysis.  Because so many people care about Jack, we thought this would be an easier way on my mom to keep everyone updated on his progress.  The Nurse Practitioner today said his recovery would be very slow and he could be in ICU for weeks.   We need all the prayers right now as his prognosis is very guarded.  But if anyone knows Jack, he’s stubborn and can put up a fight.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Marcia Conrad

Jack is doing well. Has been out fishing a few times! Enjoying it. Plus he cleans the fish as well and freezes for a fish fry☺️. He is giving himself his own insulin and counting carbs to determine how much short acting to give himself!
He would not be where he is today if not for all of you. Thank you so much!!!🙏❤️🙏
He is not due for another procedure for 5 months. I won’t be updating CaringBridge for awhile unless something changes. But definitely appreciate all those thoughts and prayers. Have a beautiful spring and summer!
*Update - I had to add these 2 photos. He took Kaylynn (youngest granddaughter) to nearby creek after school today and she caught a fish❤️🎣
