Isabelle (Izzy)’s Story

Site created on August 26, 2022

On May 9th 2022, Izzy had a seizure while at college which led us to discover a tumor on her brain. Throughout the summer, she had a biopsy at Spartanburg Regional and then surgery late July at Duke Medical Center to remove it completely. Because of the pathology results, the course of action is now radiation for 6 weeks coinciding with a chemo drug pill with a pill regimen and MRI/oncology plan following for a duration. The purpose of the treatment is to remove any remaining tumor particles to ensure it does not return. A graduate of Riverside High School in Greer, SC, Izzy is now a returning sophomore at Wofford College where she is majoring in psychology. She has big life goals and has every intention of reaching them. We love Izzy and will rally to support her throughout this journey. ❤️

Journal entry by V. Shelley Dugle

Izzy is starting out 2024 strong! At her last check-in and MRI, she is still tumor free and doing so well. She is no longer having chemo and she has her MRIs spaced out to every 3 months now. Izzy is starting a new semester at Wofford doing an internship with a guidance counselor at an elementary school. She is looking forward to what the future holds. And we are thanking God for continued protection.
Please pray she remains cancer/tumor free and that she can enjoy all aspects of being a young adult and college student.
Izzy’s positivity inspires and amazes me still. So much of this is because of the support she has received from all of you. There is so much good in this world, and I’m wishing all of this for her!

Thanks for caring!
