Iris’s Story

Site created on June 23, 2022

Iris was diagnosed with stage 4 endometrial cancer on June 20, 2022 and began an 18-week chemotherapy cycle on June 28. We'll be sharing updates here, and we'll also use this site to organize other methods of support (e.g., meals) as needed.

The blue iris flower, much like our dear Iris, is a symbol of hope and faithfulness. We're finding comfort in that symbolism, and your love and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Iris Boettcher

Ring the bell! 🛎️ I had my 3 month f/u appt with my gyn oncologist today. All is well. No evidence of the nasty beast reactivating. The medicine I'm on and the close surveillance I'm under tells me all y'all will have to put up with me for likely years to come.

I continue to feel well and my energy and strength is returning. I have now been back to work full time, which I love, for just over a year. I have re-engaged in my community of Bethlehem as well as digging in my yard/gardens, which I also love.

I am so grateful for the support and love bestowed on me these last almost 2 years. My only hope is that I can return in prayer and action for you.

Please put your prayer energy in others as you have for me.  I will likely not post again for a while. No news is good news from this site.
