Ilijah’s Story

Site created on April 2, 2023

Welcome to Ilijah’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Check the journal entries on this website to get up-to-date news about Ilijah.

Also, this is NOT for financial contributions. The section on this website that says "tributes" is for if you want to contribute to the website platform as a whole and its mission of helping families communicate medical updates about their loved ones. Those contributions do not go toward Ilijah.

If you would like to help, the best thing is to visit Ilijah (he really loves visitors!).

If you would like to visit Ilijah at home (woo!), you can text him and he will be able to send you his address.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Ilijah Denny

Yesterday I met with my surgeon to go over the results of two recent scans. One was checking the functioning of my heart and its recovery from the pulmonary embolism (PE), and the other was a chest & abdominal CT scan going over the surgery site and allllll of the things, including the PE, blood clot, and evidence of any cyst regrowth.

ALL GOOD NEWS!! Not much in the way of the PE still left, the blood clot has dissipated, and at this point, my surgeon believes that the “cyst” was an over abundance of gallstones that needed to be taken care of. So by God’s grace, I am off of the blood thinner medication and back to life functioning “normally.” I say “normally” because life is never going to be the same after this, for good and maturing reasons!

So, this is going to be my last post regarding the surgery scare and recovery from March. Kind of crazy to think that it’s been almost 6 months. I just want to thank you to everyone who has inquired of me, prayed for and with me, came to see me in the hospital, and those that have physically and emotionally cared for me over these last number of months! Prayers were heard, lives were changed, and God’s nearness was felt, even if I didn’t always think He was.

As I sign off, just want to leave you with this quote from a book I read recently titled “Deeper” by Dane Ortlund, that has often replayed in my mind over the last few months:

“Through no activity of your own, but by the sheer and mighty grace of God, you have been enveloped in the triumphant and tender ruler of the cosmos. Therefore: *nothing can touch you that does not touch him.* To get to you, every pain, every assault, every disappointment has to go through him…He himself feels your anguish even more deeply than you do, because you’re one with him; and he mediates everything hard in your life through his love for you, because you’re one with him.”

I pray this finds you well, and wherever you’re at, know that the God of all the cosmos has you right where you are for your good and His glory.
