Journal entry by Jaimie Grosjacques —
We probably got the best report I could imagine given her circumstances yesterday!
She will not be needing surgery for her malrotation!
The surgeon had thoroughly gone over her past surgery notes and all of her imaging and decided that her malrotation is really best case for what it is. What he would be trying accomplish through surgery would be to place the small intestine where it is currently located and it is highly probable that scar tissue from her previous surgery is keeping it in place already. So PRAISE GOD!
This is such a huge answer to prayer and I am ecstatic to get to share this report with you!
Moving forward:
-Because she does have malroation, there will be things we will have to look out for, but everything looks clear for the moment.
-She still has GI issues to evaluate that may not be explained by the malrotation. We don't have a clear answer for the ups and downs she has been experiencing since the beginning of the year, but we will continue to meet with her care team to figure out the best course of action.
-They also will be scheduling some tests to see how her liver is functioning with the hemangioma, so we have some appointments in our future.
I'm just so thankful for this good report we received yesterday and for the wonderful care team at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt!
Thank you for praying and celebrating the wins with us too!
