Journal entry by Autumn Hampton

Hutch’s recent heart catheterization on Wednesday went incredibly well and we were blown away by the outcome!  He only needed one pulmonary vein ballooned this time and the PVS disease was back very moderately this time. The targeted chemotherapy seems to be working like a miracle drug(as we had hoped and prayed). His team told us that they are comfortable pushing his next cath to treat his PVS until 5 or 6 months from now!!!! We were shocked and elated to hear how much progress he’s making fighting this disease. Hutch will continue to stay on chemotherapy through his next heart cath, and then we will reassess. The fight isn’t over but Hutch’s future is looking bright!

After 4 1/2 long months, we are finally taking Hutch home to Nashville!!!! He will continue to be followed by a team of  cardiologists and an oncologist at Vanderbilt that will collaborate with the PVS team at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Jared and I feel like we’ve been running a marathon since Hutch was born. This has been one of the hardest times of our lives but also a season where we’ve grown the most in our marriage, as parents, and in our relationship with God. God has been refining us and we are in awe at how He has provided for us every step of the way and worked in our hearts. He’s brought us peace during some of the scariest moments, when we thought we could lose Hutch. He’s given us clear discernment and direction making huge life decisions. He’s provided tangibles we needed while uprooting to another city for an indefinite amount of time while Hutch got the proper medical treatment. He’s put us in front of some of the most advanced medical teams to give Hutch the best care possible. We’ve asked Him, and he’s paved a way, every step of the way. We owe it all to Him!

This verse hangs in Hutch’s nursery at home and has been one that has been our motto through this journey:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
