Newest Update

Journal entry by Debbie Hummel

Hi all,

I know it’s been a little bit and I am working on updates.

In the mean time, please know that all is well! We brought Skylar home Tuesday evening and have been adjusting to a new season and a new transition.

We are enjoying our time with immediate family, and are adjusting to life at home with our girl… Bottles, NG tubes, Meds, Diapers, prayers, and Christmas lullabies can be seen and heard at our house. She truly is a miracle.

Some of her favorite things…. Being swaddled, snuggles with her Dad, and singing - Jesus Loves Me, You are my Sunshine, and The Christmas Song - a song my mom sang to me every Christmas season when I was a little girl.

I know many of you have been texting and reaching out. Please forgive us for not responding in a timely manner and not updating everyone on her discharge. It was a bit of a whirlwind for us as well.

We love you all and appreciate all the prayers that continue to be sent our way as we continue to praise God that we are home, for her being here with us, and also prayers as we adjust to life at home, parenting, her medical needs - all the things.

Realizing more and more every day just how good God is - in the joy, in the unknown, in the heartache, in the praise - He meets us there. Just as we are.

Was feeding Skylar today on our couch and this song came on. It is a reminder to me of Eden & Abel …. Two babes in Heaven that forever changed my life and are a reminder of how God is no less faithful yesterday, today, and forever.

“I will praise You on the mountain
And I will praise you when the mountain is in my way
You're the summit where my feet are
So I will praise You in the valleys all the same
No less God within the shadows
No less faithful when the night leads me astray
'Cause You're the heaven where my heart is
In the highlands and the heartache all the same”

I hope that if you are struggling at all or in the midst of trial…. that this encourage you.

Love you all.

Deb & Trev… and Skylar.
