Journal entry by Carol Sundet-Meeker —
Good evening,
Good news from the onocologist yesterday. Last week I had 2 CT's one of by neck and one of my chest. Now I need to say that my insurance would not cover a PET scan or my CT scans, unbelievable. But we needed to know so we went ahead and had the tests anyways.
The onocologist said that I am in remission in my tonsils and my lymph nodes in my neck have shunk. So that is the best news that I have received in 10 months. He does want to keep an eye on 4 nodes in my lungs. Now we knew about these in December 2022 but they said they were going to watch them for now and so it continues. Hopefully I get my port removed in the next week.
Now I have to go to PT for swallowing. Can I just say this has been a crazy ride? I have dropped over 50 lbs from cancer, I have a difficult time eating and shallowing and still do not have my taste buds back and a lot of foods taste like moldy cardboard.
Last November, we found out that I had cancer when I was trying to have the doctors clear me for a hip replacement. If all goes well, I will be having my hip replaced in January 2024. I need all my doctors to sign off 60 days prior to surgery. So my heart, diabetes, ENT, onocologist and interniest doctors all need to sign off. I am a complex patient!
I have to thank all of you for your prayers and support thru this adventure.
I want to thank my family and friends for all the support I couldn't have done this without you all!
Love Hugh
