Hope’s Story

Site created on November 5, 2019

We invite you to join us on this journey of HOPE!
We discovered Hope had a seizure disorder when she had her first seizure at age 7 after a sleepover. Her seizures were controlled well with medication for several years. However, now she is on her 4th medication and even though it is at the maximum dosage, it is no longer fully effective. She has been having "small seizures" and lives with daily headaches and dizziness. She is a high school freshman this year and focusing to complete her school work is a challenge.
This spring we went to Cincinnati Children's Hospital and began exploring options to help her. For the first time, we were presented with the option of a "cure" for her epilepsy via surgery. We are amazed and blessed at how the team of doctors and nurses there work cooperatively on each case. In July, she spent a week in the hospital undergoing several tests to determine if she was a surgical candidate. After presenting the data at their weekly conference, the team decided they needed more information to move forward because Hope's seizures are all on the right side but appear widespread.
We are praying for miracle for Hope as we trust God on this journey. We are grateful for what He is teaching us as we wait on Him!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Journal entry by Dawn McGuire

It seems the whole world has been turned upside down since our last post. We pray that you and your family are safe and healthy. We are in quarantine here at home with all 7 of us - good times! 😍
We are so grateful that Hope has been seizure free (except for one PNES). I am amazed at how she is following her eating guidelines with amazing will power. We are praying that her diet will reach a "therapeutic level" soon and allow her to decrease her seizure medication so she will have less dizziness.
We trust in a Mighty God who does not take His eyes off us. For anyone feeling lonely, overwhelmed, or anxious, we are praying for you...peace, protection, provision, courage...and JOY in the midst of it all.
Sending hugs,
Dawn & Hope
