Hello,





I'd like to thank everyone for your support. Karen and I have felt incredibly lucky to recieve so much love and support





There have been so many changes to our life since our last update. Some good and some bad but ultimately, we trust God is present in our lives. We try to remind ourselves that despite the immediate circumstances it's already getting better.





Here is a summary of everything:





Karen has finished middle school and will go on to high school next year. She received Honor Roll, Presidential Silver Award, and Most inspirational student of the Year. Yay! So proud of my girl!





I have not been able to work since Feb 1st of this year, as taking care of Karen is a full time job. She still has seizures that vary in strength everyday and we often have to be taken to ER to try to control them. Although, my ex employer knew of the hardship we are undergoing, as of April 24th 2019 I was terminated by my ex-employer.





We were granted state health insurance! Hurray! This made our whole year. It allowed for her surgeries to be scheduled.





Karen needs a 2 stage brain procedure. What that means is that she needs 2 brain surgeries.





The first surgery is an exploratory surgery where her skull is open and electrodes are placed directly in the brain. They then map the functions of the damaged tissue to asses what type of risk we would run if they resect the damaged tissue. This surgery was done on 6/24/2019.





The second surgery is determined by the results of all the testing done after the first. I can't really say what it is until they tell me. This should happen in the next couple of days.





She is hospitalized and will be hospitalized anywhere from 1.5 to 6 weeks depending on what is done on the second surgery. I'll keep you all updated as soon as I know what the action plan is.





She is still in great spirits and continues to plow through. The neurosurgeon and neurologists could not believe how happy and alert she was before and after her first brain surgery. She had them play music and sing.





We have received so much help but we still need help. With all the existing medical bills, cost of living and added expenses due to the hospitalization and me not working we are in need of your help friends.





Our faith is strong and welcome any donation.  Nothing is too small, and prayers are welcomed too. Thank you in advance for all your support.
