Hello friends and family!

It’s been awhile since I have posted anything, but thanks to my daughter, Ashley, she has been doing a great job updating for me. As you know, the surgery went well. I haven’t talked directly to my doc yet, but was told they are confident they got all the cancer removed. She decided during surgery that they were not going to install the port just yet into my stomach. I believe she wants to read all the pathology reports first and then make a decision. I will still need chemo, the question is how much. It will have been a week tomorrow that I had the surgery. I was in the hospital from Thursday through Monday. I was mostly dealing with excessive, stabbing pain that would come on suddenly, last a few seconds and go away. I described it as having a Charlie horse in my stomach. The docs were trying different meds to control that pain. They were also monitoring my bowels to make sure they would “wake up”. On Monday morning, I finally had a BM and felt that we had the pain managed as well as it could be. They gave me the choice to go home or stay another night. I chose home, of course. Eating has been quite difficult. I haven’t had much of an appetite, so I would force myself to eat something (protein). After I would eat, I felt like I had razor blades in my stomach, so I wouldn’t want to eat anymore. Protein shakes have been the best option for me. I try to get out and walk every day. If the weather wasn’t good, I would walk around my sister’s house. Sleep is good, I go to bed early most nights and wake up only to take my meds. Some days I take a lot of cat naps. My daughters and sister have been a great help to me. I can’t imagine going through all of this without them. My support person from FV called me today to see how I was getting along. She gave me some ideas on how to help with the things I have been struggling with. I will be meeting with my doc a week from today, so I will know more after that. I did receive one pathology report that was very difficult to decipher. Crystal helped me figure out the medical jargon. We think it basically said that after everything was removed, they did a “pelvic wash”, meaning they squirted some saline into the abdominal cavity and then retrieved the liquid which they sent out for testing. I believe it showed cancer cells in the liquid. Not exactly sure what that means, but this is far from over. In the mean time, I wait and spend my days recovering from this major surgery. I take it one day at a time, and do what my body tells me to do. Every day is different, but every day gets me one step closer to feeling better. Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to all that have reached out with kind and encouraging words! All your support means so much to me! 🩵🦋 Cancer Sucks!
