Hollan’s Story

Site created on December 28, 2023

In December 2023 Hollan was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the Ovary Hypocalcemic Type (SCCOHT), an extremely rare and aggressive ovarian cancer.
We created this CaringBridge site to keep family and friends updated in one place throughout this journey. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Wendy Chapman

That’s a wrap on round 4!
Next we’ll go to Cincinnati for Hollan’s second look surgery, HIPEC procedure and round 5. On April 25th she'll have a total hysterectomy and they will remove all tumors in her abdomen. Then her abdomen will be filled with heated chemotherapy (HIPEC) to treat any remaining cancer. Round 5 will be during the same hospital stay as soon as she is stable. It’s going to be a rough few weeks but Hollan is so strong and healthy and I’m confident she will do well.
We won’t be back at UAB until late May for her final round of chemo. She’ll get to  RING THE BELL celebrating her last chemo treatment! That will be a huge milestone in her treatment journey.
