Obituary

January 24th , 1932 - July 11, 2020

Hester passed into Eternity at her home in Boring, Oregon on July 11, 2020. She was in the company of family and well loved by many. Hester was born in Abilene, Kansas January 24th , 1932 to Gordith and Frank Wilson. She grew up wiAth her sisters Nadine and Clara there, attended school and eventually met and married Orval Longanecker, and together they raised four children. Hester and Orval eventually moved to Oregon and finally settled in the area around Bandon on the Oregon Coast. Hester was very involved in children's ministry and church community life as these were the primary and preeminent areas of importance after taking care of family for her. Hester worked on their dairy farm, and then in the packaging department of the dairy co-op, st a chef at Gerry's restaurant in town. She enjoyed family life and fellowship with friends, singing and taking care of the sick, the needy and those who needed a helping hand.

Eventually Hester and Orval relocated to the Gresham area and owned/operated a fashion salon for a number of years. After the sale of the salon, she worked until retirement for the offices of Rowell CPA. She worked diligently with love in the Children's department of East Hill Foursquare Church in Gresham teaching Sunday School for many years as she had done all her life wherever she lived. As her years began to weigh heavier, she continued as her health allowed until a year or so before she passed away. Hester also reveled in the friends and fellowship of the Seasoned Saints and Classic Service at her church. She always had a dish to share at fellowship dinners, her Potato Soup and Spaghetti were favorites. Occasionally she would share a family dessert favorite, that being Cherry Bars! She and Orval enjoyed a happy and blessed marriage of 72 years, despite the "pancake" incident…

Hester is preceded in death by her parents, Gordith and Frank, her sisters Nadine and Clara and her oldest son Harvey. She is survived by her husband Orval, her children Danny Ray Longanecker and wife Sandy, Connie Rowell and husband Ron, Michael Longanecker and Patricia, Grandchildren Harvey Jr .and Shonia, DaWayne, Becky, Scott and Danny, Randy and Ticia, Joel and Joshua as well as many great grandchildren, great x2 grandchildren and a great x3 grandchild.

Hester was attended to by family at her home in her last days, as well as by loving and caring members of the community and also by Mt Hood Hospice who provided excellent comfort care, education and emotional/spiritual support. Hester also received extensive support from East Hill Foursquare Church, especially Seniors Ministries who continue to provide care and company for Orval.

Hester ashes will be committed to the ground in a family ceremony in Bandon, Oregon in September near her eldest son Harvey. There her remains will await the coming Resurrection Morning in Christ Jesus her Lord and Savior. Her last words to Orval were "I will see you in the Morning"… Indeed, she will.
