Charles’s Story

Site created on April 18, 2018

On April 2 Charles noticed lump under his left armpit. I told him he needs to have it looked at. He went to see the doctor the next day. The doctor ordered an ultrasound which showed his lump node was three times the size it is supposed to be. He also had a chest x-ray that showed a few more lump nodes that are enlarged. On April 4 Charles had needle biopsy completed on the lump node in his left armpit. The results of this came back inconclusive. On April 11 was surgery day to remove lump node from left armpit to get accurate diagnosis. The pathology report came back reporting Reed-Sternburg cells, lacunar cells, and “mummified” cells seen confirming the diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma just one day before his 35th birthday. His response: “yay! Happy birthday to me I have cancer. “
